Pre-Creation God Faces the Pain of Betrayal
Long before Adam and Eve committed spiritual betrayal on the pages of time, God the Trinity had already experienced the painful event and its cascading effects all the way to the ends of eternity. In the privacy of pre-Creation, God wrapped Himself in Himself and let the impact of human betrayal thunder through His personhood.
In those moments alone with Himself, God faced the pain and violence created by man . . . yet . . . He did not turn away. By the power of His love, He maintained His peace, and gathered the sin of man and placed it on His Son—a member of the Trinity—so that mankind could be redeemed from sin and restored to a condition of spiritual purity. Throughout this entire exchange, God never acted impetuously or with reckless anger. Instead, He faced the storm, and the power of His love kept Him anchored and steadfast.
Having finished His work pre-Creation, God stepped into the pages of time at the Garden of Eden and responded to the sin of mankind by offering forgiveness and restoration of relationship for those who desired and asked for it.
Humanity, through Adam and Eve, had chosen a new spiritual adviser and “god” in Satan. This was both spiritual adultery and high treason against the government of God. The result was spiritual and physical death and a future of pain and misery of astronomical proportions. Sadly, they were clueless, so it was imperative they be given time to sow into this evil delusion and reap the consequences—and also be given the opportunity to opt out through repentance.
Most importantly, God would give humanity an exhaustive education on His personhood and His holiness, as well as how to approach and respond to Him. We are created by God and He is King. Therefore, we must be educated and brought to an understanding of the high privilege of our calling before we can take our eternal position in the family.
The Promised Deliverer
On the day that Adam and Eve fell to the lies of Satan, God promised to redeem humanity by sending “The Deliverer.” This is the first prophetic word given to mankind, and it foretold the coming of Jesus Christ the Messiah and His centrality to every message that comes from God (Rev. 19:10; and John 5:39).
In the Garden, God revealed that Eve would bring forth the Deliverer who would restore spiritual purity to humanity and destroy Satan and his works. This promise was given in seed form and then expounded upon and enlarged throughout the entire Bible so that today we see the big picture like no other generation.
God’s promise gave hope to Eve. She rejoiced in the fact that her deceiver would someday be defeated by a man-child born from woman. She now had the confidence to hate Satan and gloat over his eventual demise. For his part, Satan was enraged that a woman could hold him in derision, and this standoff began the war of hatred between them (Gen. 3:15). Going forward, women have guarded their destiny by guarding their wombs. Satan, on the other hand, has reached deep into his wicked soul in order to invent ways to defile and cheapen the motherly calling of women.
