The question is always, where is God in all of this? The Bible teaches that God gave the earth into the hands of man. This is a high privilege and a weighty responsibility.
Even so, humanity has been given “sphere” limitations. Earth is our classroom. In order to escalate our education and limit our destructive behavior, God has placed us on a tiny planet with a short life span. In our limited domain, we are bound to the law of sowing and reaping which governs every word and deed. In our personal lives and on a global level, we reap the blessings or consequences of our actions. As a feedback loop and a teacher, it holds us accountable and instills in us a healthy fear so that we avoid sowing into painful and destructive behavior. I call this the honor clause.
Springing from this foundational truth, we realize that we are in a sowing and reaping cycle. Jesus likened the end of this human age to a harvest of two crops: real wheat, and weeds called tares. In both instances, our core beliefs start as a seed that finally fills the earth with a mature crop at the end of the age. We start small, and we grow till we have impacted the entire earth.
What looks complex, is actually the result of something we have sown into. Within our ecosystem is a warring faction of viruses. They have always been with us and they are opportunist. They attack us at any point of physical vulnerability. In this modern age, we have given them ample fodder with an epidemic of health issues that spring from a tidal wave of sources such as polluted water, air, and food.
Jesus tells us that all life on the planet will be in danger of extinction at the end of this age. However, before we turn that corner, Jesus will return and place a hard stop on the global government that rules the earth. Depicted as a freak monster, this government will consist of the body parts of every wicked kingdom throughout history. In the Book of Daniel and Revelation, this monster is a military colossus that swoops in and tramples down its opponents, while chaotically crushing neighborhoods, and sending the inhabitants into a desperate struggle for survival. Grimly, the monster is seen eating the earth as if her people and goods were delicacy’s spread before him.
This biblical monster is the mature system of global government that has been sought after by fallen mankind for thousands of years. God has held this kingdom back for our survival until we fully mature. As we move closer to the end, God will release the pause button and allow this monster to finally coalesce. It will be a short season that allows fallen mankind the opportunity to “prove” the bliss of his fallen system.
Jesus told us that the love of money is the root of all evil. Therefore, we can say with biblical authority, that money has been the driving factor in every careless and selfish action by mankind. As we reach the end of this age, we are reaping a transgenerational crop of selfish and greedy sowing and this crop will be global in scope.
On the other side, there is a godly seed that has honored the Creator throughout time. In this final age, the followers of Jesus Christ will rise in maturity and their actions on the earth will be filled with truth, light, good works and empowered by the authority of heaven.
In summary, we live in the last days when two crops are entering their maturity. On a personal level we can know peace and love because we are citizens of the heavenly kingdom of Jesus Christ. Or we will have confusion and fear about the things coming on the earth. Either way, everyone will reap the mature fruit of the earthly governments that they inhabit.
