The Most Privileged Invitation Ever - June 28, 2021
In heaven, John the apostle witnessed a scene of celebration “Let us be glad and rejoice and honor Him; for the time has come for the wedding banquet of the Lamb, and His bride has prepared herself” (Rev. 19:7).
The Angel told John: “Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb." And he added, "God himself has stated this" (Rev. 19:9).
The scene before John, and the news of its importance, was so grand and overwhelming that he bowed before the angel—probably a show of joyous honor and gratitude. The angel immediately stopped him and brought correction and clarity. In essence he said: “I am simply a servant like you and I carry and deliver the same prophetic message of Jesus Christ as you. Worship God, He is the One who has orchestrated these great privileges and events.”
God Himself declared a blessing upon the bride and those in attendance. This establishes the marriage of the Lamb, as a premier and crowning event and the most privileged invitation that will ever be extended to a human.
Naturally, we assume the angel has been in planning meetings with other angels who are preparing for this most holy ceremony, where the saints will be brought into eternal covenant with Jesus and crowned as heavenly royalty.
Love Story
From the angel’s perspective, the age of humanity, is a love story of tragedy and triumph. Humans rarely understand or appreciate the cost to God to redeem them, and the disruption to the lives of every heavenly citizen. I am sure the angels have often found the love of God to be outrageous. It has to be surreal to witness the faithfulness of God to humans who in their earthly form are weak, pathetic, and easily deceived. If there is a “mystery” in heaven, it is the love of God for humans. Beholding it, the angels are growing in appreciation of God’s heart which is a fountainhead of pure love for His creation.
The preparation and planning for the marriage supper has been underway since Jesus returned to heaven at His resurrection. The joyous occasion will eclipse any and every celebration ever to occur. For it is on this occasion that the finished work on the cross, is solemnized before all of the heavenly host. The Son will welcome His saints into their heavenly home and rewards, and bestow upon His triumphant ones, His eternal covenant to love, protect, and provide for them for all eternity. This spiritual bond—firm and eternal—and the festivities that proceed, must and will stand as a singularly matchless occasion.
Angels who Serve
In this vision, John will meet many of the angels who serve the Trinity as they carry out their special roles in the homecoming event of the ages. We can only imagine—dimly—the excited activity of the angels as they make preparations to honor, bless, and delight us with the exquisiteness of our marriage supper. Wow. Everyone is longing for that day. Everyone.
