After reading and studying the letters from Jesus to the seven churches in Revelation, I decided to express them in our current vernacular. My goal is to awaken us to what is being said. Sometimes, we read Scripture and just gloss over things because we have read it so many times. In the following narration, the speaker is Jesus first-person. I recommend you read and study these verses in your favorite Bible translation. There is much here to encourage and warn the modern church.    

Philadelphia

Rev 3:7-13

I AM Jesus, the genesis of Creation. I am holy—unique and without rival. As a member of the Trinity, I am fully God. I Am truth. Apart from Me, truth does not exist.

I am King. My Father has given Me the authority to allow and forbid. My decision cannot be overruled.

I love you. Your heart to stay faithful and persist under hardship is very dear to Me. You are weak, but you are strong. You are persecuted, but you do not grumble. You look in my face, and you trust Me. I love you. You have captured My heart, and I have opened the door of heaven to you. You can enter into My environs, My privilege, My authority and no one will stop you. In the natural, you have little strength. You do not possess great wealth or influence. However, you are an insider in the Kingdom of God. This is a fact that will humble your enemies and many will leave their satanic alliances and bow to Me.

There is an hour of testing that is coming on the whole earth, but you are not appointed to it. I will keep you safe. I am coming quickly so hold onto your faith and love. As an overcomer, you are destined to be a strength and support in My kingdom. You are those who the Father seeks. You will have the family name—the name of My God, you will be the place that My God calls home—the new Jerusalem—and you will have My new name. You will be My bride. This is the mystery that Paul spoke of “Christ and His Church.”

Laodicea

Rev 3:14-22 

I AM truth. I AM eternal, and altogether Omnificent; without beginning and end. When I speak, it is yes and amen.

You are filled with compromise. You have a conceited opinion of yourself. You have surmised that you are supremely blessed with riches and that your understanding of spiritual matters is cutting-edge. In fact, you are a hypocrite and not to be trusted. You are self-congratulatory and have elevated yourself as paragons of success and perfection.

Sadly, you are bereft of anything to be desired. When I look at you, I have such an aversion to your pretense that I feel like vomiting. How can you be a member of My body when you lack the proper garments of salvation, and you have no ability to know or see truth—which is Me? Your situation is so dire, that you are assigned to the fires of refinement. Will you zealously repent?  Because I love you, I am patiently knocking with the command that you wake up and repent. There is much you lack and if you open the door with your repentance, I will step into your heart with refreshing and revelation. Today you are barely alive. As the heavenly host look upon you, they see an emancipated and naked group of humans who are groping around and spouting boasts of greatness. It is time to get honest with yourself. If you overcome, then I will grant you to sit with me on My throne. My throne is founded on righteousness and at the end of this age, I will rule with a rod of iron and there will be no pretenders or childish hot-shots in any place of authority. Listen and repent—that is your only option.
